Although happiness is subjective, there are some general factors that should be taken into consideration when describing the happiest places to live in America. These factors include the size of the population, crime rates, outdoor activities, nice homes, and great schools. With these things understood, here are the ten happiest cities in the United States. 

1. Boulder, Colorado. Several publications rank Boulder as the happiest city in America. The city is ideal for its access to nature including biking, hiking, and rock trail climbing. Boulder is also one of the healthiest cities to live. With hundreds of miles of bike trails, it’s one of the most bike-friendly cities. There’s a great sense of community in this city and it also has relatively low crime rates. 

2. Santa Cruz, California. Sunny Santa Cruz is one of the most engaging locales in the country. From beautiful beaches to the famous Redwoods, Santa-Cruz is a safe and ideal place to live. The number of people with a college education is above average, the economy is stable and great healthcare is available. 

3. Charlottesville, Virginia. Located in the Piedmont area of Virginia, Charlottesville is full of charm and unique history. 9. Barnstable Town, Massachusetts. Located on Cape Cod, Barnstable contains seven villages and covers 76 square miles. Hyannis is among the most well-known of the villages because it is home to the Kennedy compound. 10. Anchorage, Alaska. If you love long winters and the great outdoors, Anchorage is the city for you. With 300,00 residents, Anchorage has a south-central location and it is the largest city in the state. The city has a solid economy and a variety of different housing options.
