San Diego, CA

San Diego loves live music!  When you’re on your weekend getaway in this beautiful beach city, you have to go to a concert at either of these venues:

1. The Belly Up, Solana Beach

The Belly Up is one of the best venues in San Diego for quality of sound, a cool atmosphere, and friendly crowd.  The venue is pretty small, so no matter where you sit or stand, you still feel like you’re front row.

Sit at the first-come-first-serve booths to nosh on some delicious food and drinks while watching your favorite band or stand and get extra close to the music.

2. Humphrey’s by the Bay, Shelter Island, Point Loma

Humphrey’s is an outdoor venue on Shelter Island.  You will be blown away when the sun sets and once again as the houses on the hill light up at the same time the stars do.  This venue often draws an older crowd, but there are all genres of artists that perform there.  There are hotels right next door where you can stay the night in case you drink a few too many cocktails at the bar.

Nashville, TN

If you love live music, you have to go to Nashville.  Everywhere you go in Nashville you will hear music, but these are two of the most well-known and historic venues in the city:

1. Ryman Auditorium, Downtown

The historic Ryman Auditorium is known as “The Mother Church of Country Music.”  It’s where “bluegrass was born, where Johnny Cash met June Carter,” and where other legendary artists such as Neil Young, Patty Griffin, Elvis, Paul Simon, B.B. King, and countless others recorded live performances.

New York, NY

Whatever kind of music you’re a fan of, you can listen to it in The Big Apple! If you want to blend in with the locals check out these two venues in Brooklyn:

1. Warsaw, Greenpoint, Brooklyn

Warsaw is a local favorite, so if you don’t want to feel like a visitor while on your weekend getaway, check out this venue.  It is definitely a “staple of Brooklyn culture, nightlife, and history.”  It hosts all types of artists, from rock and punk to hip-hop and DJs. The best part is that you can order mouthwatering food while enjoying the concert from the Bistro.  You’ll be in heaven.

2. Music Hall of Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Part of The Bowery Presents, the Music Hall of Williamsburg is home to the indie bands and artists and you will be amongst the hipsters of New York when going to this venue.  Another spot where you will feel like a local in the city if you dress the part.  The venue is upbeat, fun, and lively, so prepare yourself for an amazing time.  Tickets are pretty reasonable, usually costing around $25.

Denver, CO

Denver is an awesome young city with a great love for live and local music.  When visiting, make sure to go to these two venues:

1. Red Rocks Amphitheater, Morrison

Just to warn you, you will cry tears of happiness in the middle of the concert at Red Rocks.  Even if you are seeing a show that may not be with your favorite artists, going to Red Rocks is an amazing experience in itself.  Pre-game in the dirt parking lot with your neighbors and then walk up the beautiful pathway to the concert.  The expansive views are unreal! Get a beer and grab your seat in the natural amphitheater.  It will be a show you’ll never forget.

2. The Gothic Theatre, Englewood, Downtown

The Gothic Theatre is an old vintage theater that showcases all sorts of eclectic musicians and bands.  It is an all-standing venue with a balcony and general floor space in front of the stage, so you’ll have a good view from anywhere in the venue.  It gets pretty packed, but you can still manage to dance around and enjoy the tunes!
