Spotlight for Boston, MA

As the capital of Massachusetts, Boston is a unique city that offers its visitors an array of attractions, including the opportunity to explore our country's history, visit a famous pub where "everyone knows your name," and travel to Cape Cod's gorgeous beaches in just a few short hours.
The heart of the city's historical culture can be discovered while walking the two-and-a-half mile Freedom Trail, which is a popular path designated with a painted or bricked red line. Travelers can follow the Trail and explore sixteen historical landmarks along the way. The Trail begins at Boston Common, America's oldest public park, and ends at the Bunker Hill Monument, a 221 foot obelisk that marks the location of the Battle of Bunker Hill. Along the trail, one can also find Paul Revere's house, the site of the Boston Massacre, and the Old State Hall. After working up an appetite along the Trail, visitors can head over to the former Bull and Finch Pub, now called Cheers Boston. It is a classic venue for libations and casual cuisine that has been a great destination for visitors and locals alike. Based on the popular sitcom from the 1980s, the pub is decorated with the show's memorabilia and also has an accompanying gift shop with clothing, glassware, and collectibles to bring home for friends and family. With the urban environment of any city becoming a bit overwhelming, the people of Boston find comfort in having easy access to Cape Cod for long weekend getaways... especially over the summer. The "Cape" (as the locals refer to it) is just a two hour drive or a comparable ferry connection right from downtown Boston. Boasting over 550 miles of coastline and beaches, Cape Cod contains many beach towns that cater to summer tourists between Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends. There are many outdoor activities available to its residents and visitors, including biking, boating, fishing, go-karts, golfing, kayaking, and miniature golf. Many also look forward to the Naukabout Music Festival at the Barnstable County Fair Grounds, which takes place in early August and is located at the heart of Cape Cod in East Falmouth, MA. The festival features local and national musical talent, along with food, arts, and family-friendly activities. Boston's diverse offerings make it a popular destination for young professionals and families alike. From the city's culture and history to the serene offerings of the coast, any tourist will feel right at home when visiting!
